Eat Your Way To Glowing Skin

A recent study, published by the British Journal of Nutrition, evaluated the connection between diet and skin health in 716 women. Lifestyle factors, such as sun exposure, smoking status and age were taken into consideration, and results showed that dietary beta-carotene (the antioxidant responsible for color pigments in fruit & veggies) increased the overall glow of the skin. More specifically the study found that women who consumed plenty of colorful vegetables & healthy fats, had an increased skin elasticity & fewer wrinkles compared to the women who consumed significantly less vegetables and had a higher dietary intake of saturated fats, such as those from meat, high fat dairy products & dessert sweets.
Other research support these findings and highlight that increasing consumption of beta-carotene rich foods by 3 servings a day can enhance the natural glow of the skin, giving it a healthier and more radiant appearance.
